Sinclair Workforce Development is recognizing Manufacturing Month in October by spotlighting customized solutions for area manufacturers and training for workers looking to enhance their skills.

Through partnerships with local industry leaders, the division provides consulting, training, certifications, custom business solutions, and resources to address the demands of today's job market. Sinclair Workforce Development serves organizations of all sizes from multi-national corporations to small businesses with limited resources.  In addition, Sinclair Workforce Development assists individuals looking to continue their education or gain new skills.

“GMi Companies strives to attract and retain the best and brightest talent and Sinclair Workforce Development helps us do that through customized training for our employees, mentorship programs, and recruitment assistance,” said Charlotte Kemp, Director of Employee Services – GMi Companies in Lebanon, Ohio.  “Whether you are a manufacturing business like GMi or working in another industry, investing in your employees is vital to the success of your company and your workforce.”

GMi Companies specializes in manufacturing communications products including custom display boards.  With its headquarters in Warren County, GMi Companies utilizes training and courses at Sinclair College’s Mason campus or Sinclair’s Workforce Development team brings the training to GMi’s facility.

During October, Sinclair Workforce Development is calling attention to resources for manufacturers and individuals. The manufacturing industry in the Greater Dayton region has been a key part of the economy for decades and generates billions of dollars in annual sales and payroll.

“Today’s modern manufacturing presents unique challenges for employers who need a skilled workforce for success now and in the future.  Sinclair Workforce Development turns those challenges into solutions by providing the training programs and services that elevate the skills of workers and foster long-term growth and success for regional employers,” said Mike Freed, Senior Manager, Manufacturing Solutions – Sinclair Workforce Development.

Programs directly address some of the most pressing issues for employers and individuals, including:

  • Narrowing the skills gap between employer needs and skill levels of the available workforce
  • Managing the impact of the cost of the skills shortage on company earnings
  • Enhancing the workforce for long-term sustainability
  • Providing both hard skill and soft skill training

“The solutions developed by Sinclair Workforce Development are designed specifically for the needs of GMi Companies and that’s what sets Sinclair apart,” added Kemp.  “It’s a trusted partnership that analyzes the needs of businesses and their workforce and provides customized plans of action.”

In 2019, more than 13,000 individuals were served through Sinclair Workforce Development training programs.  Sinclair Workforce Development assists businesses throughout the Dayton and Cincinnati regions.
